A fan since the first UFC, Charles McCarthy first became involved in MMA in 1999. Traveling the globe and training with the best and most accomplished fighters in the world, Charles debuted in the UFC at 24, becoming one of the youngest MMA fighters on the UFC roster. Charles earned his Brazilian jiu-jitsu Black Belt under Ricardo Liborio, a world-famous Carlson Gracie black belt and founder of American Top Team. Beginning his role in management during his active days of competition, Charles has represented a wealth of UFC talent and negotiated and closed deals with the top MMA organizations around the world.
Steven Berkeley is a managing member and one of the founders of Guardian Sports Group. Steven is an attorney licensed to practice law in New York, New Jersey and Florida. His involvement in MMA began as a student in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Charles’ American Top Team gym in Boynton Beach, Fla. After several years of training, Steven decided to combine his passion for MMA with his legal career and joined with Charles to form Guardian Sports Group. Steven and Charles share a common vision, which is to bring a level of professionalism and ethics to the management of MMA fighters and other professional athletes that exceeds that of any other management company in the history of the industry.
Ed Kapp has been involved in MMA for nearly five years. He‘s written hundreds of articles as a journalist for a number of newspapers, magazines and websites, owned his own site and has worked in a communications capacity with, among several other ventures, Din Thomas’ and Roli Delgado‘s MMA Scouting Report. The Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada product has also worked as a freelance journalist for several years and has spent the past three years working in the Regina Leader-Post’s sports department. Since 2013, Kapp has served as Guardian Sports Group’s Director of Communications, where he is responsible for conducting interviews for GSGMMA.com, producing press releases, booking appearances with local, national and international media and just generally doing anything he can to help up the leverage that Team Guardian athletes bring to the table.
