Adam Milstead picked up his seventh straight win Saturday — but the victory didn’t come exactly as he anticipated.
“It wasn’t what I intended it to be. It turned into a big slugfest, which was really cool for the fans to watch — that’s a great way to describe it, actually,” the multi-talented Team Guardian heavyweight powerhouse says with a laugh.
“Thankfully it ended up with the result I expected.”
Milstead planned on being the aggressor on Fight Night, and he was, finishing his opponent just a few minutes into the first round of action.
“I ended up taking him down, we got back to the feet, and I caught him with a really heavy jab right on the chin,” Milstead says. “He went back, fell back, I got a few extra punches in, and the ref pulled me off.”
The seventh straight win, Milstead says, feels awfully nice.
“I had a lot of nerves going into this fight because I had a lot of supporters there and I knew winning this one would push me into the direction that I needed to go,” says Milstead, who hopes this win propels him to the UFC’s Octagon.
“I had a lot of nerves that I had to overcome, but I was able to. I had a good time. It was a good, fun fight.”
